Second annual Women's Jiyu Kumite Our second annual Women's Jiyu Kumite seminar will be held following the Women's practice Annual Shotokan Ohshima Dojo Jiyu Kumite Clinic Taught by Greg Scott
This year's Jiyu Kumite (sparring) clinic at the Shotokan Ohshima Dojo will take place on Saturday May 17 th , 2008 , prior to the annual Dan Test and Nisei Week Tournament. Two sessions are scheduled: the first from 10:00AM to 1:00PM and a second session from 2:30PM to 5:30PM . The cost is $60.00 and a light snack will be included. Greg has taught this seminar at many locations across the United States . Ohshima Sensei has personally requested a repeat of the clinic this year. This year's clinic will cover fighting strategies as well as methods for developing a jiyu kumite class for different levels. Many of SKA's strongest members attribute a portion of their success to the study of Jiyu Kumite and nearly all can benefit from the continued opportunity to polish the “pre-fight” mentality and confidence building skills provided in this type of practice. This seminar is open to all SKA Members (white belts should have senior instructor approval and be familiar with basic sparring techniques). Because of format changes, qualifying for this year's Nisei Week Tournament will be more difficult. Those interested in qualifying are especially encouraged to attend this seminar.
