  1. Felix sent off as Chelsea beaten by Fulham

Fulham beat Chelsea after Joao Felix sent off on Blues debut - reaction (2)

    Michael Emons

    BBC Sport at Craven Cottage

Joao Felix was sent off on his Chelsea debut as his new side lost a west London derby at Fulham to increase the pressure on Blues boss Graham Potter.

Joao Felix, who only joined Chelsea on Wednesday in a £9.7m loan deal until the end of the season from Atletico Madrid, was shown a straight red card for a horrible lunge on defender Kenny Tete after 58 minutes.

It was 1-1 at the time, with Willian putting the hosts ahead against his former side in the first half, before Kalidou Koulibaly equalised early in the second.

But the 10 men of Chelsea could not hang on to a point as Carlos Vinicius headed in a 72nd-minute winner.

  2. 'It was an important moment for him'

    Fulham

More from Marco Silva on Carlos Vinicius scoring: "It was a really important moment for him. It is difficult when you are at a football club and behind a beast like Aleksandar Mitrovic who is important for me and the club and it is tough when you are only playing 10-15 minutes a game. He is working harder and harder to get in his best physical shape and score goals and I think the last few weeks have been better for him, I think the international break was important to help him adapt."

On Willian: "He has been brilliant the way he adapted so well in our football club he knows everything about the Premier League, all the staff made him feel at home and we are talking about a top quality player and you just have to make sure he is enjoying his football."

  3. "Great night for the fans"

    FT: Fulham 2-1 Chelsea

Fulham beat Chelsea after Joao Felix sent off on Blues debut - reaction (4)

    Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva speaking to BBC Sport: "Great, great night for the fans, I think the last 15-20 years has been tough in all these derbies against Chelsea their superiority has been huge.

"I think 16 years without a win against them so this is a great feeling for them. We want to make them proud and have good feelings we just ask them to be behind us every single time and they were today definitely.

"It was a tough match, I said it would be a special match, even if they are on a bad run they are still; Chelsea and they showed that at the start of the game. I have to give credit to our players after the first 15 minutes they adjusted and didn't give Joao Felix and Mason Mount space in behind the fullbacks where they wanted to run.

"It was a good first-half form ourselves, second-half we started the worst way possible and gave them a boost. Of course they started to created more problems for us until the red card. And then it was our obligation to win.

"When I say that, we knew they could create problems for us if we switched off and that was what happened in the last minute with a long ball in behind at the end and they had a clear chance to score."

  4. Get involved - 'Potter needs time and faith''

    #bbcfootball

ImTheBlueGuy: Those calling for Potters head are short sighted. He's got a huge injury list, no time with whole squad, this bunch of wasters were hardly fighting for the cause under Tuchel. He needs time and faith... look to Arteta what a strong backing can create.

    Chelsea

More from Graham Potter, speaking to BBC Sport: "Our response was good in the second half, we scored but the red card made it difficult for us."

On how the dressing room is: "As you can imagine, disappointed. We are in a bad moment, a bad run. We came here with the ambition to win, we haven't done it. We feel for the supporters, we are upset. We have to recover."

On Denis Zakaria's injury: "It was the top of his quad. We will see how he is over the next 24 hours."

  7. 'Everything that can go wrong, is going wrong'

    FT: Fulham 2-1 Chelsea

Fulham beat Chelsea after Joao Felix sent off on Blues debut - reaction (6)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Graham Potter, speaking to BBC Sport: "It sums up where we are at the moment - everything that can go wrong, is going wrong.

"Joao Felix was fantastic in the game before that [the sending off], you could see his quality. He was looking dangerous throughout. The challenge is unfortunate. It is a bit of a forward's challenge. I don't think there was too much malice in it and it is an unfortunate action and we are going to lose him now.

"Even though I thought the boys kept going, Fulham didn't have too much in that period and we had some opportunities ourselves but in the end it is a disappointing evening for us.

"It was a fairly even first half I thought. It was a bit of a mess for the first goal, which we needed to do better with. With the greatest respect it was more just basic defensive actions we need to do better with."

  9. 'Delighted with the result'

    FT: Fulham 2-1 Chelsea

Fulham beat Chelsea after Joao Felix sent off on Blues debut - reaction (7)

    Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva speaking to BT Sport: "Delighted with the result, pleased with the first-half. The second-half wasn't at our best level.

"The good thing we can take as a group, even in the second-half we didn't perform at our best and we are able to win a football match against a top side even if they are on a bad run.

"They are Chelsea and that means top quality players with a great manager. It was a tough game for us the first-half was good for us but we didn't start well, it took some time for us to adjust. We had chances, they had chances as well but we were more clinical than them

"In the second half we started not as good conceded a goal in the first two minutes is not the best way to start against a good side it gave them a boost. After the red card it gave us the obligation to win the game.

"The red card is always an important moment, we changed it with Harry Wilson and Tom Cairney to give our team more creativity, and a bit more calmness on the ball.

"The goal came from a great cross from Andreas [Pereira] a big goal for Carlos [Vinicius] because he is always in the shadow of our top scorer in Mitrovic, and he needs time to adapt and with more time he is improving as well and it is an important moment for him."

Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole on BT Sport: "I thought when Chelsea scored they'd go into the ascendency and win comfortably. It was a scrappy goal they needed."

  11. Pinpoint Pereira

    FT: Fulham 2-1 Chelsea

Just how good was Andreas Pereira tonight? He was pinging in some excellent balls into the box for Fulham.

Only Kevin De Bruyne (nine), Bukayo Saka and Christian Eriksen (six each) have more Premier League assists than Pereira this season (five).

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Graham Potter speaking to BT Sport: "I think we controlled the game early won the ball back high created some opportunities maybe missed the last pass. We made a couple of mistakes for their goal.

Second-half I think we responded well and then the red card changes the game. Makes it a little more difficult for us, I thought the application when we went down to 10 was really good.

"Disappointed with the goal because I think we could do better and that is what cost us.

On Joao Felix's red card: "It was a forwards tackle, there was no malice in it but I understand why it was a red. it is another blow the hits keep coming at the moment. he was really good you could see his quality in the game so it is doubly disappointing for us."

On how they can recover: "We have got to keep working there is no other solutions, you have to keep working stay together and try to get the three points."

  15. 'I saw enough to know Felix is a good signing'

Fulham beat Chelsea after Joao Felix sent off on Blues debut - reaction (11)

    BT Sport

Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole on BT Sport: "Graham Potter must be thinking when is his luck going to change. That moment [the red card] changed the game. Felix was brilliant - I saw enough in his 59 minutes to know he’s going to be a good signing for Chelsea.

"It is hard when you’re down to 10 in the Premier League because you’re getting overloaded in different areas of the pitch.

"Moments are going against Graham Potter and something has to change. They need a flukey win or goal to bring confidence back into the side."

    FT: Fulham 2-1 Chelsea

Fulham defender Tim Ream, speaking to BT Sport: "We have had to show a little more fight and determination in the last couple of games and when we do that and still play well with the ball it bodes well."

On not just relying on Mitrovic: "I said there were goals in the team. The guys are stepping up. We are not a one-trick pony. We have guys in the team who can finish and put the ball away."

On being sixth in the Premier League: "It is a consequence of everything we are doing. The hard work on the training ground, the togetherness of the players and fans. We are not looking at the table but we are in a very good position."
