Few spinoff shows can go the distance, but "Mayans M.C." has proven to be a satisfying "Sons of Anarchy" follow-up that viewers continue to enjoy. After the game-changing events of the Season 4 finale, it is probably wise to assume that fans of the FX crime drama are curious to know everything they can regarding what will happen next in "Mayans M.C." Season 5.

Despite some "Sons of Anarchy" fans being upset with the ending, many have taken to the spinoff series centering around the rival motorcycle club, the Mayans. The first of its four released seasons received significant acclaim, and its follow-up also received impressive ratings from Rotten Tomatoes. After 40 episodes, things are starting to heat up on the FX crime drama, and the fourth season saw things get pretty chaotic for the titular motorcycle club. Ongoing challenges from both outside and within were a big focus culminating in EZ Reyes (JD Pardo) taking control from longtime Mayans M.C. leader and franchise favorite Marcus Alvarez(Emilio Rivera).

After the finale was released on June 14, 2022, many wondered if the show was canceled or if more episodes would roll into FX. Luckily at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2022, it was officially announced that "Mayans M.C." would ride again (via Deadline). Here is everything there is on 'Mayans' Season 5.

Back in July 2022, the "Mayans M.C." official Twitter account announced the fifth season would be airing sometime in July 2023. And now, we know the exact date. You can expect the show to roll onto FX on May 24. If you prefer to watch the series on Hulu, the show will hit the streaming site the very next day. In total, we'll be getting 10 episodes of the biker show, with the initial two dropping on the 24th. After that, it's one a week until the series rides off into the sunset.

Emilio Rivera, who played Marcus Alvarez on"Sons of Anarchy," has had some pause-worthy moments in the franchise. The season finale was arguably another of the character's more shocking ordeals. The man who has essentially been at the head of the table most of his run on the franchise was usurped by EZ Reyes. Now JD Pardo's on-screen persona will be taking the reigns going into Season 5, and while not much is known about the official synopsis, war with the Sons of Anarchy seems inevitable. President of Original Programming and FX Entertainment Nick Grad did, however, shed some light on what's going to happen in a statement regarding the fifth season (via TV Line). "The Mayans have battled for respect, territory, and power through four intense seasons that have set the stage for an explosive fifth season that will test their survival under EZ's newly claimed leadership." It looks like "Mayans M.C." Season 5 will be putting EZ's leadership skills to the test.

JD Pardo will be back in action after his bold takeover in the Season 4 finale, and he'll be accompanied by Clayton Cardenas, Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger. In an interview with TV Insider, Pardo discussed the intense showdown between his EZ Reyes and his brother, Cardenas' Angel. They'll be joined by JR Bourne, Danny Pino, Carla Baratta, Michael Irby, Emilio Rivera, Frankie Loyal, Joseph Lucero, Vincent Vargas, Gino Vento, Emily Tosta, and Vanessa Giselle.

Looking forward to Season 5, Sarah Bolger spoke to TV Insider about the shocking way Season 4 played out, particularly the tense showdown between Pardo's EZ Reyes and Cardenas' Angel. "That scene where the two brothers are just looking at each other most honestly, it feels like a palpable change in the tone of the show," Bolger said. "I feel that episode really tonally changed both the brothers' relationships and all the relationships."

Bolger also indicated that her character potentially losing her child and sister "is devastating," which could drastically affect her persona in the next installment. Cardenas also believes there is a chance change is coming for his "Mayans M.C." personality Angel Reyes, saying, "He's envisioning a life for himself outside of it, and he's envisioning a life for his family outside of it, and I think the potential is enticing for him."

A co-creator of Prime Video's crime comedy "The Outlaws" and writer of the 2016 indie drama "Lowriders," Elgin James teamed with "Sons of Anarchy" chief creative force Kurt Sutter to develop a spinoff and continuation of the latter show, "Mayans M.C." Heading into the fifth and final season of the epic motorcycle gang drama, James will serve as showrunner, the same position he's held since the show entered production in 2018.

"Mayans M.C." is the primary TV home of Brett Dos Santos since 2018. After working on the series as a first assistant director, he earned a chance to helm episodes in Season 3 and Season 4. He'll direct at least two installments of "Mayans M.C." in Season 5, specifically episodes number 2 and number 8. In between, the fourth episode of Season 5 of "Mayans M.C." will mark the first directing job of the show's star, J.D. Pardo, according to Variety.

If you were hoping to see the Mayans Motorcycle Club ride on for many more seasons to come ... well ... we've got some bad news for you. In January 2023, FX announced that "Mayans M.C." Season 5 would be the last one (via Collider), ending the series. At the time of this writing, we're still not sure when the series will air, but when it finally does roll up, it'll be the final time we see EZ Reyes in action.

On April 26, 2023, FX stoked hype for the upcoming fifth and final season of its "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff "Mayans M.C." with the release of a foreboding, intense, and dread-filled trailer. Set to the strains of "God's Gonna Cut You Down," the stylish and teasing clip package details the main plot points of the series' endgame. Santo Padre M.C. leader EZ is caught up in all kinds of conflicts, ranging from a strained relationship with his brother and fellow biker Angel, to a looming war with their rivals in the Sons of Anarchy, led by meth kingpin Isaac Packer. Both sides treat a violent standoff with lots of casualties as a foregone conclusion, and it's something the other side seems to welcome. There's also the matter of a rat — EZ finds out that there's a traitor in the midst in the form of a biker who's working with federal agents to bring down the whole enterprise.

While there seems to be plenty of things for fans of the FX crime drama to get excited about regarding the future of the series, it does appear that "Mayans M.C." fans will probably have some time to kill before the show returns for its fifth season. Lucky for them, the entire series is ready to stream on Hulu. Every episode is available on the streamer, meaning fans can catch up on Season 4 or go big and watch it all in an exhilarating binge session. And if all that "Mayans M.C." action isn't enough, subscribers can also check out the entire run of "Sons of Anarchy," from its humble beginnings to its wild ending on Hulu.
